"Twinkling Blue"
You give that wicked grin
and eyes a twinkling blue
I know you're thinking things
involving me and you
I want to stay and listen
to your laughter here
Capturing your happiness
caught inside your cheer

"Eyes of Blue"
sometimes I reach out to shadows when reaching in dreams
to catch you while lucid; moments unraveling their seams
they're fleeting and dodge me until I awake
to torments of daylight and moments of fake
I just want to see you
and your eyes of blue

"Your Blue Eyes Meet My Brown"
I'm trying to think of a poem
to explain the way sometimes
I feel you're apart of me
but there aren't words fluid enough
to express the notion that
you and I are of the same cloth
your blue eyes meet my brown
the way the mountains reach
up towards the sky
I don't know words poetic enough for this

Pennies and Moons
Am I the waveless sea?
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always, always been me
I spent my pennies in a well
and I would count the moons as well
and hope for a blue moon
I'd wish on times and fallen lashes and hope and pray
but faith passes
and I am hopeless
Am I the waveless sea?
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always been me, always me
I found you wounded and alone
I was alone for a long time, too
but here I'd found you
I hoped for happiness and to find a way and I realized today
my faith passes
and I am hopeless
Am I the waveless sea?
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always been me
I am wishing on moons
and planting pennies inside water
hoping to grow some hope
but I am hopeless
I am like a waveless sea
A starless night, it's always me
A bird without any wings
Always, always, always me
I have wished upon blue moons
and found, I found you
But pennies will not save me now
I am hopeless
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always, always been me
I spent my pennies in a well

Take Me Away to Write Songs For You
"I'll Compose One For You"
there's never a song that contains all the words
you make me wish to scream
never a verse so perfectly put to explain what i mean
there is no melody that captures the hurt and the remorse
there is no tune to captivate with the way in which you do
and there is no amount of drumming to suffice in explaining the way you make my
heart pound
there are no words to describe you in a song
and to try, well, it would be wrong
you make my breath catch and you make my heart yearn
you make me smile
you make my soul die and you have let me scream and burn
i cannot express the ups nor the downs and no song will try
no song will ever catch all the tears in one place
nor all the ways i cried
there are no songs about you, dear
there are no tunes nor melodies
and there never was a composer to try, none other
than me

"Ticket Away"
Buy me a ticket to a better place
I need an airplane to save my life
I need to get away from this space
that is keeping me here in strife
Take me on journey for my broken heart
I need a place to rest these weary feet
I am in desperate need of a better start
And I really need new people to meet
So won't you, won't you, won't you
buy me a ticket away?
I need an airplane to save my life
I need a moment to capture happiness
I need a way to get away from strife
and I gotta' combat this loneliness
Take me on a journey for my restless mind
Take me up high and let me leave tonight
I need to leave this place far behind
Let me do what just feels right
So won't you, won't you, won't you
buy me a ticket away?
I needed to leave a couple months
before yesterday

Ruddy Mad Hatter
"Mad Hatter Love"
you make my heart go pitter patter
and i'm crazy like the mad hatter
got no clue what i am gonna do
but you are ticklin' my fancy, you
you go my pulse sped up and jumpin'
and my whole body is feelin' a thrummin'
and there goes the tap tap tap of my heartbeat
i hang on your every word on the edge of my seat
i think you struck me down
and i am held so bound
by your captivating glances
makin' me want to take new chances
hold me down since i might just float away
crazy and foolish i think you make me stay

"Ruddy"
Hey you with the hazel eyes
Mr. Ruddy I
wanna stay with you
I want to see you smile, stay for a while
and let me laugh with you
Hey you with the wicked eyes
Say you'll become my
reason to follow through
I wanna see your wicked grin, don't pretend
that you don't want to
Hey you with the hazel eyes
Mr. Ruddy I
need to lay by you
I wanna see the stars and feel safe from harm
hold me close to you
just stay right here

Catch My Breath this Summer
"Catch My Breath"
is it worth all the endings
all the walls?
is it worth all the beginnings
and broken falls?
give me a moment to catch my breath
and I'll tell you everything
from the movement of your shoulders
to your smile
from the ending of my troubles
and the miles
you have crossed just to make me catch my breath
and say all I need to say to you
that I love you, I do
and yet you throw me down the hill again
break me, bend me, until I end
you crash me here across this floor
and I keep coming back for more
is it worth all of the endings?
is it worth all of the miles?
can inside the new beginnings
I hold onto a smile?
inside of every moment
you make me stop and catch my breath
and I will tell you every second
that I love you ....
to death
7/2/11
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Summer Love"
Trip
skip, hop and fall
Jump up and embrace these summer skies
and when the hot summer grasses grow
look me in the eyes
leap, dive and fall
into you

Kept Away From the Trees
She wakes each day
pulls herself together
Smears the happy across her skin
and puts her peices together
She goes by and smiles along
carries the tune to a song
He is elsewhere doing his work
not ever writing his wrong
He had promised, promised, promised
He had promised to be
there by her side when she needed him there
but he didn't stop her, did he?
She was driving, driving so fast
trees seemed to be a perfect end
Was he there to tell her "no"
No, he was not there to mend
So, now who stopped her from such a thing?
Who was the savior for her?
It was a ruddy boy who knew not
but what he offered her
Happiness, he offered a dream
so she held onto that
and he delivered oh, such a thing
but she could not know what she had
For she wakes each day
pulls her self upright
struggles to just wake up
and go for the light
And she goes by day after day
holding that memory
that kept her away
from the trees
from the trees
So play the song, play the tune, play it long
Play that melody to keep you strong
Happiness is but a dream away
a memory
of that October day

I am Happiness
I'm a fading sun
like a dying day
The weeping willow
and the lonely bay
I'm a little vessel
adrift at sea
I'm the lonely hilltop
and the silent breeze
I am just a will o' the wisp
you always try to follow
I disappear before you reach me
And if you should try to capture me, you won't
I'm never fully here at all
I'm that shooting star
you never see
Whether near or far
you cannot find me
I am the illusive creature
of the deep
That one treasure sought for
you'll never keep
I am like a little vessel
adrift at sea
I am a spider's thread
you cannot see
But still you come for me...
I'm still the will o' the wisp
you try to follow
I'll disappear before you reach me
And if you try to capture me, you won't
I'm never fully here at all
I'm the mountain tall
you cannot climb
I am the bridge to cross
you cannot find
I am the dragonfly
you'll never ride
and the weeping willow
where I hide
Like the fading sun
I'm the dying day
A lonely hill
or a lonely bay
I'm that dream you never seem to have
And yet you keep on trying to
But I'm the will o' the wisp
you shouldn't follow
I like to disappear before you reach me
And I'll never, ever let you catch me
For I'm never fully here at all

Holding Happiness like Only You Can
"Only You Can"
only you can say
my name
and still my soul with
the letters spelled
out
only you can keep
silent
and break my soul with
the words you
withheld
only you can know
my pain
and make my day with
words that cheer me
up
only you can say
my name
and make me ache
to know why you say
it such as
you do
5/7/11
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Hold happiness in my palms
Hold it close
Safe from harm
Keep it locked up
Locked up inside
I don't want to hide, but I don't want to lose it
Gonna treasure it
Hold it safe like a delicate
vase
No breaking, falling, no shattering
my happy
I am quietly marveling at it
Keep the doors here locked
keep it safe from harm
I don't want to have to sound this alarm
I have grasped it close
and held it so
I don't want to let this happiness go

Too Late at the Edge For You Bringing Spring
"To Me You They'll Bring"
If I take a moment
to imagine you
I see a street sign
and a sky of blue
I see it marked west and leading
but where to?
but where to?
I follow roads, paths, and pointed signs
I follow maps, and feelings, and lines
I never quite get back to you
Lover, where have you gone to?
I shall take a moment to imagine you
I see your smile, hear your laugh, see your eyes
I see the way I was happy in happier times
I am holding to the image, like it's scarred upon me
Star crossed lovers we were, but what shall we be?
This world is pulling
This world is cold
This world too confusing
while I'm growing old
I shall send out a signal to the heavens this Spring
and I shall hope to me you they'll bring

"The Edge of Strong"
September, you were golds, you were summer colors fading away
bringing in the month of golden waves and ruddy tree lines
It was fun, so very fun, while it lasted
But it ended........again
Come the cooler month where we give thanks, I was feeling like
I might crumble
Seeing dirt, dark, and rubble
Then, yes, December came
I was nearly done
So close to being done
I could not feel that warmth and cheer
There was nothing to hold to
The new year was so cold, it was like I'd never know happiness again
Boarded up and snowed in
Winter has seemed so long
I know now the edge of where I'm strong
but Spring, bless you Spring
Bloom for me in hope and happiness
like promises
Bloom, bloom for me in greens
I am needing the promise of happier things
It's been too long
It's been so long
and I've reached the edge of strong

"10 Months Too Late"
Today...I woke in a mess and I was broken
too much stress, words unspoken
I'm so battle scarred
full of glares for my reflection
And while, while I drove too fast on these winding roads
Trees and houses passed me by blurring, oh
I realized one thing I never thought of before now
When I fell in love with you it was summertime, it's true
And I was seeing someone else then, someone fast and high and Mr. Fine
But he made me see you in a different light
Oh, but it was later I gained sight to finally see what was in front of me
And realized then that I loved you
But, oh but, oh but, I was 10 months too late dicovering
And there was nothing I could do, there was no recovering
Today...I discovered so much honesty, bleeding out of me
and I'm waking up to know where I have been
All the images blurred passed me fast, all the memories of the past
and I realized I'd loved you for so long, so very long
It took me 10 months to realize this and I think it's so wrong, I should have known
And then another 11 months to tell you so
Yes, I'm an oblivious fool, yes, I'm a riduculous fool
But today I discovered all of this....
...so tell me why, oh tell me why...
Why did it take me 10 months to realize?

I Know Why God Painted This Sky
I love the way the night reminds me of you; subtle
starlight in the distance shining through
and when the mornings come and the
barest color reaches sky
I think to myself I know the reasons why
God used the colors He did to bring
His world to life
He found love in miracle of the eternities
and tried to paint her essence upon
everything
So I see in all the wonderment
your face; it's heaven sent
and I adore you

Dark Blue Light
"Blue Light Spring"
you were starlight, you were snowflakes
you were blossoms and blue eyes and earthquakes
you were blue lights drowning out the red that took my hope
you were a dancer and a dreamer and a newborn make-believer
and hope born upon the sun bursting into Spring
And every moment after was a magical journey
Dancing through the daylight like a dream
You drowned out almost everything
you were music, you were melodies
you were glitter and sparkles and daydreams
you were blue lights drowning out the red that took my hope
you were a dancer and a dreamer and a newborn make-believer
and somehow through it all you were like Spring
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"It Was Dark"
And it was dark, so very dark
and clouded inside my eyes
There wasn't but a pinprick
and that light was sure to die
I was wrestling in the corners
for forgiveness that ran away
trying to grab a hold of something
so I could remember the way
The way to let go
the way to move on
the way to breathe
But I was faltering...
And it was dark inside the car
and lights were in my eyes
And you let me speak it all out
I had never even tried
I'd been battling the cobwebs
trying to run the other way
But you had me lay it all out
Not knowing what I'd say
And I finally let go
and I moved on
and I could actually breathe
I'm so very grateful
So very thankful
For that gift that you gave me
No matter what may happen
What life may bring
I am lighter and better and happier you see
For it was dark, so very dark
But you helped me come back...
...back to me.

Past Childhood Love
"Twilight Love"
Irrevocable
Bright and yet unattainable
Chase the setting sun
and find the edge of day
Inconceivable
Contrite and irreversible
Seek the rainbow's end
and find the edge of day
Irrational
Fight this unexplainable
need for finding love
at the edge of day

"The Past"
Bear me away into the memories of
summer heat and cotton sheets
the imagery of youthful fun
and the feeling as we ran
Remind me of the happiness and
times we played together free
with the grass fresh cut and
happier were the days we
used to be apart of

with the grass fresh cut and
happier were the days we
used to be apart of

"Childhood"
Space, clouds, sailboats
and wings
Swords, tales, mirrors
and dreams
Roads, hikes, pillows
and swings
Love, lust, memories
and screams
Childhood changes
everything

Wake Me tomorrow in Paradise
"Dream-maker"
It's late and I'm awake, oh Mr. Dream-maker
Take the silt and sand from my eyes
And take me to your world of paradise
It's 2 a.m. and I can't sleep, my Dream-maker
Take the ash and soot from my bed
Take me wear you lay your head
I wanna sleep by you
Wanna wake in my dreams with you
Wanna spend the night beside you
and wake tomorrow there with you
Wake, wake, wake me when we leave
Take, take, take me when I sleep
It's passed 2 in the morning Dream-maker
Take the dust and cobwebs from the night
And wake me when the world is sunny bright
It's far too late and I'm here my Dream-maker
Take the air and scent it with happiness
I want to see your world and decompress
I wanna sleep by you
Wanna wake in my dreams with you
Wanna spend the night beside you
and wake tomorrow there with you
Won't you wake, wake, wake me when we leave?
Take me there, take me when we sleep
Let's just together close our eyes
Wake me tomorrow in paradise
Hello Mr. Dream-maker come lay beside me
Wake, wake, wake me when leave
Take, take, take me with you please

"You" Can Mean So Much, Not "You", but "You"
"Etched Forever"
chasing butterflies with no net
and battling cobwebs in the closet
startled by the truth
that makes pock marks in the wood floor
and leaves the remembrance
etched
forever
I am etched forever
fighting demons with a toothpick
and winning doubled over and sick
stranded by the truth
that made rivulets all across the walls
and leaves the remembrance
etched
forever
I am etched and I'll never
recover
from you
but you don't care, do you?

"Because of you......"
There may be happy days
and there may be sad
and sometimes I battle against both
for what I never had
but no matter the emotions
nor the feelings inside
you lift me with your voice
and I'm better by your side
It's the strength in your arms
and the smile on your face
your soft cotton shirts
and knowing I'm safe
I feel like flying, love
and feel like trying love
and feel like I'm in love
because of you, love
it's all better now today
because of you

Cloud Nine
giddy like a girl high
on Easter candy and lollipops
and with a sillly little smirk
i name this cloud number nine
happy is my namesake
spent with cotton candy dreams
and i dance upon this feeling
and this cloud called number nine

An Easter Poem:
"Spring Hope is Summer's Future Skies"
I feel like my heart is being ripped out, what little bit is left, like all the salt from the sea is lost inside my tears
I feel as though the hope I had held onto is gone, and like the autumn leaves blow away; it's left me solo
But upon that stormy horizon I see the rain is clearing and the sun is breaking and maybe I can forget this mess
Maybe I can let the ends tie or untie as they may and the chips fall where they fall and let bygones be bygones
Maybe I can turn the other cheek and smile with a smile that I hardly cares who sees and let the lies die in the wind
Let the years bury the sorrows and let the lies be covered over in new growth this spring and move forward
For there is hope on this new morning and life blooming and I'm trying to catch the petals in the air and kiss them
I am trying to feel the warmth from that sun that ever shines, and ever gives a dawn to the hope that lives on
I do not care if I was a fool for loving you, nor care I if by my folly I lost pieces of my life and time better spent
For I learned sorrow, yet I learned joy, and I learned truth behind lies uttered in confusion and I learned love
Love in it's truest sense, profound and forgiving, I learned how to forgive and seek something better than anger
I see now with different eyes and a better sense of purpose and I reach out with hands knowing I'll not run away
There was a disaster in the coridors of my thoughts and it seemed all my dreams had turned bitter on my tongue
Perhaps God knows all my weaknesses and knows how to make them strengths, or perhaps you needed wisdom
I may never know the reasons, nor recall the excuses, I may never see the ends that could have been
I see a smile on the edge of the rolling clouds and nearly hear that laughter in the wind now; such bliss is here
Hope is leading me towards what is better and what I so dearly need and I'm leaving all else as a lesson I will share
In each poem, and through each word, let it be known that hearts can heal and souls are living, thinking, feeling pieces
of us and are forever trying to get us to see who we are and sometimes we see others even if they cannot see themselves
I am going to focus on the desires of my heart, and deep inside hope that when I am old and have grandchildren
That this will all make better sense than now, and that someway, somehow at least one person's dreams will fly
For him I tried, and for him I fought, but the horizon calls me now, and it's not the same direction as you
You are building up your world and I'm just redesigning mine in the shape of happiness and Summer skies

If I could reach you I...
if i could for a moment take your hand and leap into a world where our presence would not be seen as wrong, but embraced as perfection on canvas; where the days are long and full of sunlight like summer evenings without mosquitoes and where no one ever remembers the dissaster we left in our wake long ago. if i could shift time to be there near you and erase the shadows beneath your lids and clear the fears from your soul windows and take you to a place that is higher than the high you can get within that smoke. if only life were not so cruel and lives so selfish perhaps our hands could remain bound at each other's sides and brush thumbs over jean pockets and laugh each time we miss a crack we should have jumped over. i wish that all we ever did or could ever do was somehow poetic in the sight of the angels and that when you sleep they would lay gentle kisses all across your dreams; that each moment you awake feels like a new beginning and is bursting at the seems with joy. i wish we could feel happy together without this shadow hanging above our heads and fingers pointing at the messes left behind us. if i could just reach you i would tell you all these things.

Flying Solo Unperturbed
"Unperturbed"
High walls and faces all around
voices crashing against my ears
and it's cold in here
Your voice so sure beside me now
and your warmth is making me calm
and your eyes draw a smile
and your freckles make me grin
I shiver a tad and you notice, you do
and your jean jacket finds its way to my arms
and I'm wrapped in your scent
and held by your warmth
and we're the only two in this room
No one will notice while lost in their world
and I won't let this stark room dismay
while I have the warmth of your unperturbed smile
and your jacket becomes my shield
keeps everything else at bay
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Flying Solo"
I want to race the world on
swift wings home
to catch the birds
and dance
within the moments that
could pass me by
I want to grab his hand
and tell him I no longer need
his wind to guide my
pathway home
for I alone will fly from here
and fly my flight alone
