Choking on Truth

It's such a shame that your voice is so frail
Such a shame you can't speak
I sit and laugh knowing how much it hurts
Watching you fight to breathe

Choking on truth is the vision I made
Painted in words and a song
Swallow the innocent and thought you could
somehow make it along

But butterflies are strong
Butterflies are strong
Butterflies when armor plated are the destruction
I choose for the wrong

It's such a pity that you cannot breathe
You should have been so much kinder
Sitting inside of the field lighting matches
While setting my whole world on fire

Choking on truth is the reason I came
Painting in words and song
You swallowed the innocent and thought that
you could make it along

But butterflies are strong
Butterflies are strong
Butterflies when armor plated are the dectruction
I choose for the wrong

Here you thought you could end this world I made in blooming delights
You thought you could swallow the fragile and burn my whole world bright
Flames are no match for the truth in your throat
and you will never swallow
Might as well give up and lose your hope
armored wings are hard to swallow
Butterflies are strong, yes, butterflies are strong
Butterflies when armor plated are the dectruction
I choose for the wrong
Destruction I choose for the wrong
Choking on truth is the vision I made
Painted in words and a song
Painted in words.......and a song

You Are So Amazing You Could Wear The Universe

"Nothing Quite Like You"

music is nothing compared to your voice
but your voice is nothing like music
and silence is nothing compared to your breathing
but your breathing is something quite loud
the smell of your skin is like nothing on earth
but earth never knew how to smell
and mirrors may capture your presence in still time
but they never could quite reflect who you are

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Wear the Universe"

I think if the universe were a cloak to be worn, it would rest upon your shoulders
it would wrap you in the essence of all that is magnificent and marvelous
it would encompass you in power
knowledge, and strength
I think if the world could envelope you with pure liquid life
it would wrap you inside of the static at night
it would mold from the stars the reason for your being
and paint across your eyes in the darkest of black
the moments that would pass by you would never cease to amaze
and time would be your playground, your passion, your craze
oh, if only I could enrapture you like the mountains near your feet!
The magnitude you move about in is an earthquake never contained
I think truly, if the universe were a cloak to be worn you would wear it well
like a king in a robe of strength you would be a marvel in the essence of the night
and from your eyes would reflect all the beauty
captured in the heartbeats between time

Walls of My Rome

"Wrong is in these Walls"

you are in every wrong thing in the world
a sickly snatcher of the soul
a trick in the lights and a false sign
leading to a false way home
you are a master of deceit
on your tongue is painted lies
and in your fingers are the ruins
of the fools who met demise
nasty breaker of the hearth
ruining warmth and comforts there
like an evil little ghoul
setting the world on fire here
oh, the hapless are your tools
made them play the lies you ate
and when we all turn up as fools
bathe our whole lives in hate
because we let you
yes, we let you
let the wrong inside the walls

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Downfall Of My Rome"

a needle in your side
becomes the crossbow arrow
shot right through your core
and pained though you may be
nothing compared to my loss
the hourglass is lying
I am sure
a thimble full of wishes
becomes the downfall of my Rome
somehow I let this happen
never wanting so much heartache
and this undying loss
the hourglass must be lying
or we are doomed

Their Eyes Are...

like hemlock fronds
like rocks covered in moss
and hills to castles far
like crags, ravines and mountain ranges
and wooded lonely isles
forested worlds of wonder
contained within your eyes

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

spiralling downward
the echoes of whales
the sea, wind in your sails
and the wave tossed world
the ebb and the flow
and tides down below
glittering in sunlight
blue and bold
contained inside your eyes

Sea Spinners

"Out to Sea"

Every time you are close to the shoreline
I fear you'll float out to sea
What's gonna keep you here in the sand
and not swimming from me?
Every night that the moon is out above
I fear you'll walk the long walk away
and you'll know nothing of love
So I'll tie you here to me like an anchor I'll be
I won't let you float out to sea

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Spinners of Gold"

October is for daydreamers and spinners of gold
It's for riot makers and crayon painters
and women loving colors bold
It's for freethinkers and leapers and lovers
and people born beneath the moon
It's for magic and mayhem and wanderers
and merrymakers playing a tune
It's for dancers aplenty beneath harvest red
a moon bathed in symbols of old
October is for candle jumpers, revelers and lights
lit by the spinners of gold

Battle For My Sky

The flower in the meadow holds me
like dewdrops on the petals
I am bound here
Flight
is what I seek
The moment to escape on wings upward
embracing sky
and dancing through the clouds of
this world
but soon
inside this lonely meadow here
there comes a shadow and steals my sun
A stormcloud of pollution
The massacre of acid rain
and loss
How I pray the sun shall win
this battle for my sky
or else beneath this storm death
shall I meet
and end the hopes of my flight
Grasping petals here I battle
wind and rain
and through the struggle find
that somehow the sun breaks free
and the light
the savior of my wings
giving hope in rays of joy
causing the rain to cease and the thunder
to silence in the wind
and still this meadow here
in solitude
until I take wing
and escape from here

Cardinal

Cardinal, cardinal, tell me the reason
tell me the why and sing me a season
bring forth the rain on colors of gold
inside the richness bring oranges bold
When all this mess is hurting my soul
take back the wrong; make me whole
I'll watch from windows while you sing
offering to me hope born on a wing
Cardinal, cardinal tell me why life is
and why I can never, ever be his
I want the colors to explain to me why
In reds and golds and oranges high
Let them give words to the music you bring
Cardinal, cardinal bring love on a wing

Lighthouse, Keep the Cargo on the Boat Safe

"Cargo"

push the boat out to sea
it's holding cargo
cargo dear to me
push the hopes towards a dream
it's holding futures
futures I did see
push the boat into the sea
it's holding love
love escaped from me
push the wishes towards one thing
but bring it home
home safely
push the boat into the sea
it's holding cargo
cargo dear to me
push the hopes towards a dream
and let it bloom across
across the sea

"Your Lighthouse"

you left to go and it's a stormy place
don't be afraid for I am always near
when it's dark I will be the light
and when you want to come back home just follow me
I will shine no matter day no matter anything that could come along
I will be the light leading you along
you left and I will miss your pretty face
don't you fret for I'm not leaving here
when it's stormy I will be the light
when you want to come back home please follow me
I will shine no matter rain no matter anything that could stop me
I will be here always, always shining
I will no leave until you arrive safely

Love

it's when you know the end is not coming
it's when glass slippers are shards cutting you open
it's when the air is making it hard to breathe
it's when your grief encompasses an ocean
it's when the moment that you wake each day
is drenched in pain each way
you move your mouth
it's when all the agony you feel inside
cannot hope to hide
and it escapes your mouth
it's when the tears no longer matter
it's when the days blend all the same
it's when your happily ever after
becomes a mockery of lame
someone tell me where is it?
where does it linger and go?
it eats away inside your ribcage
and burns straight through your soul
it's when nothing makes you whole
it's when you cannot hold upright
it's when you're sobbing out your eyes
it's when you hate the day that dawns
and it's when you realize...
...it makes you strong

It's more nonsense

poems are all nonsense when the words don't mean a thing
when my mind is full of screams
and the air is emptyness
I wanted solace to comfort me and hold me close
not this absence
take back this absence
there were spiders in the webs inside my memories
building highways across my dreams
and the acrid taste upon my tongue
was her forgetful name
such a plain Jane name
there isn't music in the corners anymore
and not a sight to see
no blue moons to wish upon
no more songs for me to sing
there are elbows in my ribs and feet kicking me once down
there is a cage with my name on it
and a solitary crown
and you say "why oh why are you sad?
why oh why are you mad?"
like the questions have answers I could give
I say "here is the end of my rope just take it back
because it broke
what use is it now?" I already fell
there were broken bits of me along the road you never
wanted to traverse across
so claim the loss
Autumn is coming with the leaves of change and I'm turning the other way
poems are nothing of love
and nothing of life
nothing of sense
and nothing of the strife that I have born
I'm all a mess now
holding onto reminders of hope
and reminders of what still can be
I'm just so tired of my words having no meanings
so tired of censoring
and lying
of hiding
tell them now
tell them loud
and shut the door
sit down alone in the middle of my floor
and write again

Moon Bird

"Broken Winged Bird"

tragedy in white
walks alone at night
sings a song of sorrow
like a broken winged bird
tragedy in white
sings alone at night
like a lonely sparrow
a solitary broken bird
tragedy in white
little lonesome night
sings a song of sorrow
like a broken winged bird

"Capture the Moon"

capture the moon, my friend
the moon is leaving you
take a glance upwards
and steal your soul
capture the moon, my friend
she is drifting away from you
lift your eyes heavensward
and take back your soul
capture the moon, my friend
her light a beacon for you
take your face skywards
and reclaim your soul
capture the moon, capture her
take her and follow the night
for when the dawn comes she leaves again
and the world becomes too bright
capture the moon, capture the moon
take back your soul, reclaim it soon
she will leave er dawn comes
capture the moon, my friend
before the night ends again

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

moon bird, moon bird
fly away
fly oh fly oh fly away
moon bird, moon bird
the coming day
is dawning, dawning, dawning day
moon bird, moon bird
free to play
each night, starlight, fly away
moon bird, moon bird
the dawning day
fly oh fly oh fly away

Some Days Are Days We'll Never Forget

there are days we remember
days we forget
days we hold dear
and days we'll never let
days we celebrate
and days we morn in tears
days we come to hate
days we mark all the years
there are days we remember
and days living on forever
but the days we recollect upon
should never, ever be forgotten
some days are days we'll just never forget

"Red, White and Blue"

For the red, and the white, and the blue
For the calling home for you
For the feelings of love
hope, courage and faith
For the red, and the white, and the blue
For standing for what is true
For the feelings of pride
freedom, strength, and peace
For the red, and the white, and the blue
For holding onto you
For the flag that means
love, strength, courage, faith and peace

Hello Autumn

mold your soul to the telephone pole
and leave your shoes in the dirt on the road
summer is leaving and sunlight decreasing
hello autumn
and hello gold
ditch your sandals for boots and for laces
here comes the cool air and the fun
mold your soul to the telephone pole
the leaves will be falling and ravens are cawing
the autumn horn is blowing while you wait
goodbye summer
goodbye old
ditch your sundresses for coats and leggings
here comes the cool air and the fun
mold your soul to the telephone pole
children will parade down here in masks
and upturn the pumpkins and bring on the ale
this is autumn folks, so beware
hello autumn
fun and cool air

Begin the Madness All Over Again

i remember those times i wished you were here
remember those days when it was easy
it was smiles, laughter and stories
and nothing of lust
and nothing like this love
and nothing of pain, or regret, or this wanting
nothing of this madness
i remember those times i wished i could change it
remember wanting to make your life easy
bring you smiles, laughter, and hope
and drown out the pain
bring you more than love
take away all the agony, the hurt and the longing
prevent all the madness
i remember those times where my eyes were opened
remember them seeing and nothing was easy
between the smiles, laughter, and joy
there was so much pain
and caused by too much love
couldn't escape the ache, the need, and the wishing
it became my madness
i remember those times where i had screamed in hurt
remember when nothing ever would be easy
where you stole my smiles, laughter, and life
drowned me inside pain
broke all of my love
and left only grief, regrets and the screaming
swallowed in madness
i remember those times where i felt not a thing
remember the false sense of how it was easy
i was fake smiles, false laughter and glee
silently suffering pain
broken due to this love
battling aching, the need and the hating
shadowed in madness
i remember those times where i broke free of it
remember letting go of the hate made it easy
finally we were smiles, laughter and a truce
locked away the lust
but holding onto the love
letting go of pain, regrets, and wondering
we can end the madness
i remember it all now as i pause to think
remember how i assumed it'd be easy
but my smiles, my laughter and strength
are battling silent pain
and the need for more love
holding onto this want, this regret and the hoping
i begin the madness
all over again

Oil Spill Inside Me

Inject seaweed and saline in my veins
and replace the tar water here
the spillage in my system
poison, slime, unclear
is stagnant
and slowly killing me

Moth Thimble Fulls

"Thimble Fulls"

It eats at you, I know
You just can't let it go
It becomes like the air you breathe
Takes the place of everything you need
And it slowly, slowly
kills you
in inches
and thimble fulls
It tears you apart, I know
I have felt that way, I know
It's in every waking thought
and it's taking you a part
Drowning you slowly
killing you
in inches
and thimble fulls
Just wait, just wait, just wait
'til it's worse
It's breaks, aches and pains
beyond your hurt
And so you'll know in slowly increments
this pain inside you kills
and you will feel it in inches
and thimble fulls of your skin
I know the pain of this
It eats at you, I know
Darling, somehow let this go

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Moth"

I hate that moth
hate it's wings
it's movements
and the strings
it flies upon
I hate that moth
I hate it bad
I want to kill the moth so bad
I hate it's wings
it's colors
and the strings
it flies upon
I hate the moth that gravitates
towards the light
I hate the moth because it flies
I hate the moth, it doesn't die
I hate the moth and it's pearly white
wings
I hate the moth and it's fluttery
it's movements
and the strings
it flies upon
But the moth comes everytime
the light goes on
I want to catch it
become the spider
Let me eat it
I want to end it
I hate the moth so bad, so very bad
It won't go away
everytime the light
...turns on

Leave Them Behind

heroes inside of the picture frames
they whisper while you walk by
and if you should ask them
why they all cry
they'll tell you you're leaving them behind
echoes follow down the staircase
and they call to you walking away
and if you should hear them
you'd hear them say
they had all the hopes stacked high for you
and somehow they all tumbled down
I was the decider and heard them too late
and the echoes all faded away
if I had stayed long enough to hear them
I would have heard what they'd say
They said don't, don't, don't
walk away
there are hopes to the sky and don't you dare wonder why
don't, don't don't
don't you forget to pray
there are millions of voices that will never voice thanks if you do
if you do
leave them behind
stupid, stupid, stupid
there were heroes in picture frames
whispering as you walked by
but you never asked them
no, never asked them why
they all cried
echoes followed you down the staircase
and they called to you walking away
but you never heard them
or heard what they said
there were hopes stacked high for you
and they tumbled down behind you
crying
don't, don't, don't
walk away
don't, don't, don't
forget to pray
there are millions of voices that will never voice thanks if you ...
leave them behind
but I was the decider
and stupid, that choice was mine

Say My Name

you said, Elizabeth
don't walk away
and I won't
told me you'd never leave, never ever, ever go
and I was an idiot
and thought you were true
and you chose another to love
something I would never do

They've called me baby, and darling, honey, and love
Lizzy, and Ellie, and Liz, and then hun
I've been sweetie and babe and sugar and doll
and lover and enchantress and once been called dove
But no one said it quite like you
and you never meant it, did you?

you said, Elizabeth
I'll be here within these five
and now look at you
told me you'd hold me, and save me, and be there
and here I assumed
thinking it could be true
but you've got another life
and I do not want you

So I can be baby, and darling, honey and love
Some call me Lizzy, and Ellie, Liz and hun
I will be sweetie, and babe, and sugar and doll
lover, enchantress, and maybe once again dove
And someone will say it better than you
and they will actually mean what is true

We Became the Madness

bathing in milkweed
and ashes
taking time
and breaking time
sipping on toothpaste
and mangos
loosing your mind
as I've lost mine
and terrible like the magics
inside of this wilderness
I am cowering inside of a cornfield
and feeling helplessness
became the madness
making paper dolls
calling them my friends and asking them to call
became the madness
making newspaper shoes
walking over quicksand holding the images of you
you're bathing in milkweed
and I am the ashes
you lost your mind
as I've lost mine
we became the madness
and use plastic spoons as wings to fly
walking through a cornfield thinking we are living life

Past Childhood Love

"Twilight Love"

Irrevocable
Bright and yet unattainable
Chase the setting sun
and find the edge of day
Inconceivable
Contrite and irreversible
Seek the rainbow's end
and find the edge of day
Irrational
Fight this unexplainable
need for finding love
at the edge of day

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"The Past"

Bear me away into the memories of
summer heat and cotton sheets
the imagery of youthful fun
and the feeling as we ran
Remind me of the happiness and
times we played together free
with the grass fresh cut and
happier were the days we
used to be apart of

"Childhood"

Space, clouds, sailboats
and wings
Swords, tales, mirrors
and dreams
Roads, hikes, pillows
and swings
Love, lust, memories
and screams
Childhood changes

Because I'm Addicted to You I'm Weak

"Weakness"

i let you bring me down
to watch me drown
and let me down, down
i let you jerk me around
gagged and bound
you spun me around, around
i let you pull me away
from the only thing i ever needed
i let you push me off the edge
and shattered and broken
i pleaded
why did i let you bring me down?
you watched me drown
and let me down and down
why did i let you jerk me around?
i was gagged and bound
spinning around and around
i let you take me away
from the life i'd made myself
letting you tear me apart
and i know i was better than
my broken heart
and how this felt

"Hallucinogen"

your presence is clinging like cancer
addicted like you're a drug
i am like following a shadow
hallucinogen and
i am fading
away
your essence twirling like a dancer
across my eyes bewitching
like i'm mesmerized
hallucinogen and
i am overdosing
on you
seeing lies and lies of you

Wake Me tomorrow in Paradise

"Dream-maker"
It's late and I'm awake, oh Mr. Dream-maker
Take the silt and sand from my eyes
And take me to your world of paradise

It's 2 a.m. and I can't sleep, my Dream-maker
Take the ash and soot from my bed
Take me wear you lay your head

I wanna sleep by you
Wanna wake in my dreams with you
Wanna spend the night beside you
and wake tomorrow there with you

Wake, wake, wake me when we leave
Take, take, take me when I sleep

It's passed 2 in the morning Dream-maker
Take the dust and cobwebs from the night
And wake me when the world is sunny bright

It's far too late and I'm here my Dream-maker
Take the air and scent it with happiness
I want to see your world and decompress

I wanna sleep by you
Wanna wake in my dreams with you
Wanna spend the night beside you
and wake tomorrow there with you

Won't you wake, wake, wake me when we leave?
Take me there, take me when we sleep
Let's just together close our eyes
Wake me tomorrow in paradise

Hello Mr. Dream-maker come lay beside me
Wake, wake, wake me when leave
Take, take, take me with you please
