Landslides have covered the pavement
and new dawn has dawned with grief
The rains fell and washed all of us away
and where shall come our relief?
Earth shattering shaking around us
and trees have forsaken their roots
The windows have broken on this ground
and left crushed under our boots
The strong winds have torn us asunder
and the damage left in their wake
caused all the children and mothers to grieve
and cry out for heaven's sake
Oh, where do the pieces fit in the puzzle?
Where is the light at the end of the tunnel?
Who is the cause and who is the relief?
and tell me what is the depth of their grief?
The rubble is marked by what used to be
and the signs are all facing down
So grab hold of your loved ones and hold them close
and wave goodbye to your town
Landslides have covered the pavement
and the morning is harsh in the light
The floods have washed everything away
and the wind had ravished all night
Earth shattering shaking and broken
and the branches have made you a map
to lead you on to a long weary road
of which there's no turning back

Banner of Love
Go ahead and cry your Hail Mary
and sprinkle Holy water on me
You can light me up like a Christmas tree
and spread my ashes in a cross for all to see
I might be a martyr or maybe I am
a demon in disguise
I might be an angel or hell, I never said otherwise
but if you think that I am wrong, I will tell you this
I am only a woman in love
memorize the shape of my fist
You can send me straight to hell and pave my way in stones
you had already used on all of my windows
I don't care who you think I am supposed to be
I am just a woman no matter what you name me
Go ahead and throw salt on me
paint a cross over all that my eyes see
You can light me up like a Christmas tree
and spread my ashes out to get them on their knees
I might be a martyr or maybe I am
a demon in disguise
I might be an angel or hell, I never said otherwise

I don't care who you think I am supposed to be
I am just a woman no matter what you name me
And I will stand here with my banner of love
I will be waving my banner of peace above
Go ahead and scream at me to turn from my wicked ways
for loving who you think I shouldn't in your set in ways
But damned if I do, damned if I don't
I am professing what you won't
Love is the meaning, the answer and the truth
and I don't need your accusations as proof

More Than a House
Look at you, sad, sad door
Look at you windows holding life no more
Look at you weeds - you think you own here?
Look at you trees, we do not hug you now
Look at these things and what befell it - how?
It was greed, darlings, greed
and we lost the fight
Look at you, sad, sad stairs
Look at you trees, plums and pears
Look at you forgotten flower beds here
Look at you empty walls - alone and cold
Look at your boards, they appear so old
Darlings, we want you, want you
but we lost the fight
So, grow up weeds and take this lawn
Say hello to the birds each dawn
Keep closed your doors and windows, too
and we'll come, and we'll wave at you
So, bear your fruits for us trees
and we'll stop by and see your leaves
Go ahead and let the land be your family
and we'll try not to be so sad for you to see
but we lost the fight
but it's alright
Stand there for all to see....
you're more than a house left abandoned
you're a home that just can't be

She's the Devil
She's a viper in the nest
a poison for your mouth
a sealed lipped kiss
and a ticket way down south
Her bosom is a mirage
sent to lead you to your doom
and inside her coffin says
"Here lies your tomb"
She's a master of disguise
and her words are shaped like stones
bruised upon your body
and building up her thrones
Set atop her high chair
she shall watch you fall asleep
into a deathly nightmare
where her madness you will reap
She's a nasty little devil
and a demon plays her song
when she wakes up each morning
the evils follow her along
Her echo chases for you
and chokes your withering ears
left scarred from her whippings
you have born the marks for years
She's a bottomless well to fall through
She's an electric coated fence
She's a potion you can die from
Body aching, bones so tense
as you cough up your heart
and it spills out on the floor
she'll pick it up and eat it
always demanding more
So, you better run for cover
Lock your windows and seal the walls
Never open up for her
and don't you heed her calls
She's a wicked little secret
you never knew was true
now she is coming here for victims
She's coming here for you
a poison for your mouth
a sealed lipped kiss

I Used to Be an Angel in a Meadow
"Not An Angel Anymore"
broke my wings off
and tucked them in the corner
you thought i wouldn't notice
and that i would stay on the ground
bound
took my halo away
and placed it in the dresser
thought i wouldn't notice
in my reflection my glow is gone
forgotten
you slowly wove me into a sickly figure
no wings, no halo, not an angel anymore
you took my harp and my voice
and gave me a hole in which to stay
here i thought i had found a new life of freedom
but i only gave up my purpose to condone yours
i'm not now
so what's next?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Who I Used To Be"
I used to wait by the door and by the windows
I wished on blue moons and stars and willows
I collected thoughts and dreams and hopes and years
I counted signs and trees and reasons in shapes of tears
Maybe I was broken
Maybe I am a fool
But I knew who I was, didn't I?
I played in dreams and painted things I held to
I wrote out my screams and wished for truth
Now I dart back and forth to your upbeat tempo
I still try to spin the way you want me to
I really just want to curl beside this rock here
and pretend that this planet is another sphere
Maybe I am broken
I might be a fool
But I know who I was once upon a time
If I wanna dance upon the edge of evil to claim the right, I shall
If I want to play the music of the fools to bring them wisdom, I will
If I feel the power in my palms at the sight of his face I'll feel a thrill
and if it scares you than I will keep walking along this path, I shall
Maybe I am broken
I'll remember one day
Until then I'll remain this shell of secrets, reasons, hopes and dreams
Of unshared thoughts, wishes, needs and silenced screams
I'll wait by my windows and by my doors
I'll count the signs and number the floors
I'll banish the nonsense while fighting the impossibilities
and when you call me a fool I'll recall one thing
I know who I need to be
and I know who I was
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Meadow of Yellows"
it's a cloak, a guard
and a shield, said he
a promise never kept
and I'm in this place waiting
with a city light loft
and wishing for that
castle on the hill
that cliff on the edge
a meadow of yellows
and a memory of love
it's a cloak, a guard
and a shield, said he
but he never came back for me
he never came back for me
he never came back for me
and I can't find the place
that space
Before that girl and her vampire friend
I had a meadow of yellows near a cliff
and far below there was a sea
but I'm not sure where this place could be
and he never came back for me
it's a cloak, a guard
and a shield, said he
a promise never kept
and I'm still waiting
it's a lost key, a lost map
a lost time
and a lie
he never came back for me

Too Many Years With No Hope
I was holding up a sign that said "I'm Fine"
and I was pointing to a road named Hope
I was waiting for that day to finally come
holding onto the end of my rope
1/25/11

"Too Many Years"
i adored you like cauliflower shaped cloud castles in the sky
and imagined your smile through the windows while the world rushed by
but the images faded
and left streaks by my tears
it's been too many years
i adored you like ladybugs crawling through the grass by my feet
and imagined your laugh would carry me in joy down the street
but the good times faded
and were replaced by my fears
it's been too many years
i still watch the clouds for signs of your name
and i ache inside to wonder what's the same
do you still feel that way or did it all change?
i can't even ask you
i do not know how to
i still wait in the grass for your return
how i ache inside oh how i yearn!
do you think of me at all in all these years?
or is the truth the bitter edge of my fears?
i adored you like the bluejays in the trees outside the windows here
their wings reminded me of your eyes and all that i had once held dear
but the images are bitter
and i can't swallow back my tears
it's been too many years
and we added one more

Mary's Garden Wants Me"
"Wanting Something Other Than Me"
You can stand there on your side
walk beside those dirty windows
I will walk beside my pile of rubble
and watch as the wind blows
They will just wave at you and walk right on by
I would have came and stood by you
and never left your side
But you want something else, I guess
So carry off these emblems
and throw away these signs
Stand by dirty windows
And I'll watch the sun rise
I would have watched it standing by you
but you want someone else, I guess
1/8/11
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"That Garden...You know, Mary's Garden"
Mary, Mary, oh you with that garden
Some say you were contrary, but I must confess
You probably stole all the seeds for a haven
and got but a wiley and overgrown mess
I am able to stand here and reach for the stars
but only when high feeling like I'm on Mars
There were makers of music who would sing me a song
but I envied the rhymning and told them all off
Come hither and thither and come for a time
I'll be back tomorrow when I finish this crime
Mary, Mary, how did your garden grow?
They say with some flowers and maids, but I say
You had them try to find perfection in each row
But you'll never see heaven on earth if you won't pray
I am able to stand here and reach the sky
but only while dreaming can I truly fly
Those makers of music try to sing my their songs
but I hate their melodies and I tell them they're wrong
Come hither and thither and come for a time
I'll be back tomorrow when I finish this crime
Oh, Mary, contrary, your garden is lame
I have a whole box of girlish stupid games
Shall you fancy a party to wear your polka dots?
I'll bring the liquor and lets watch your garden rot
They would bring my songs and I hated them so
I wanted the rhymns like you wanted a garden to grow
Unless we do all the work by ourselves
we will never see heaven but end up in hell
Come hither and thither and come for a time
I'll be back tomorrow when I finish this crime

Cardinal
Cardinal, cardinal, tell me the reason
tell me the why and sing me a season
bring forth the rain on colors of gold
inside the richness bring oranges bold
When all this mess is hurting my soul
take back the wrong; make me whole
I'll watch from windows while you sing
offering to me hope born on a wing
Cardinal, cardinal tell me why life is
and why I can never, ever be his
I want the colors to explain to me why
In reds and golds and oranges high
Let them give words to the music you bring
Cardinal, cardinal bring love on a wing

I Said Break Another Day
"I Said Break"
it's the time you spend in the shadows
watching shadows
making shadows
it's the light from those windows
broken windows
no more windows
i said break them
and make them
make shadows for company
i said break them
to erase them
bring shadows to comfort me
i said break them
to break them
was to erase parts of me
play with shadows
all my shadows
glass edged shadows
to break in me
8/19/10
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Another Day"
it's like trying to walk through quicksand
and eating acrid tree roots by the cliff side
like throwing yourself over the edge
or walled away alone, shut off and tied
it's like yanking your hair out
and screaming with no voice
sometimes living life is a nightmare
and you wonder at your choice
it's the swallowing in darkness
your soul frightened with no lights
it's the sweltering feeling of oppression
clutching your chest, your fist clenched tight
so you kick, and you fight, and you falter
and you stand up and turn around and go
and on and on is your process don't pause or
you'll fall down and you'll never know
morning will come when you wake up
God grant you another day
and the nightmares that plagued you seemed endless
but you'll feel alive your first breath once you wake
the world turns once more to bring us out of the night
and into the light
and you'll know then you're fine
we're all going to be fine...
so battle the mountains that rise up in your way
and forget the silence that is cheering you on
you will master the ability to bring out your strength
and once you know that you know you're strong
remember the night does not go on and go on
when you feel you're living a nightmare
there are more doors that you'll open just waiting on you
and no matter the hardships you bear
just know...
you're one more day away
turn the page
God grants you another day
awake

Breathe the Air of Summer
hush, the scent of jasmine
and the air of summer wind
the balmy nighttime splendor
in the hallow of windows
follow the sky across your soul
open your arms wide here below
and breathe in the magic
and breathe in the magic
hush, the whirl of window fans
and fireflies battling the wind
the static charged summer air
is the constant present friend
follow the clouds across your soul
open your arms wide here below
and breathe in the magic
and breathe in the magic
it's summertime here
soak it in

Scrambling From Their Sordid Affair
"Scrambling"
scrambling for leverage
to find a foothold
and needing the moment
to breathe you in
i am left in this silence
it's erasing my thoughts
leaves breathless and
taking my end
caught twisted in longing
and nothing is real
take me over
to breathe you in
i am battling stillness
and parading my sorrows
leaves me echoing senseless and
breaking to bend
i'm climbing to reach you
but meeting dead ends
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Sordid Affair"
Such foolish games like a child
in a clown costume
you leave yourself in stupid phrases
and ridiculous hand motions
seeking exotic scents
and spicier foods
wanting mansions and castles
and carpeted floors
granite, marble and mahogany
and gilt covered doors
your disgusting sordid affair
like a storm cloud blotted the sun
and wearing a mask like a clown in a scene
i feel you're full of nothing more
you wanted a sand covered landscape
and sunsets to dream of
and tangles caught up in your hair
mansions and castles
and carpeted floors
granite, marble and mahogany
and gilt covered doors
sleeping inside your sordid affair
with pearls dumped into your lap
diamonds and bobbles and jade for a song
and a damnable dream in your thoughts
such foolish games you made
out of the moon
and wanted caravans to follow you home
needed mansions and castles
and vast marble floors
granite, frescoes and mahogany
and windows spacious in doors
haughty and high minded with not a care
in your reckless and foolish sordid affair

scrambling for leverage
to find a foothold
and needing the moment
to breathe you in
i am left in this silence
it's erasing my thoughts
leaves breathless and
taking my end
caught twisted in longing
and nothing is real
take me over
to breathe you in
i am battling stillness
and parading my sorrows
leaves me echoing senseless and
breaking to bend
i'm climbing to reach you
but meeting dead ends

"Sordid Affair"
Such foolish games like a child
in a clown costume
you leave yourself in stupid phrases
and ridiculous hand motions
seeking exotic scents
and spicier foods
wanting mansions and castles
and carpeted floors
granite, marble and mahogany
and gilt covered doors
your disgusting sordid affair
like a storm cloud blotted the sun
and wearing a mask like a clown in a scene
i feel you're full of nothing more
you wanted a sand covered landscape
and sunsets to dream of
and tangles caught up in your hair
mansions and castles
and carpeted floors
granite, marble and mahogany
and gilt covered doors
sleeping inside your sordid affair
with pearls dumped into your lap

Fools by Windows see Cherry Blossoms
This first poem was inspired by a very wise mind - he's special indeed, and of course so is she
"Cherry Blossom Tree"
so soft and sweet yet appears
without imperfections
hide those tears
you are not beauty marred
but wisdom caressing the years
a beauty now in bloom
is for all the world to see
flourish now my cherry blossom tree
gentle and yet your roots are so strong
wind will never break you
I know I'm not wrong
you are not beauty marred
for the wind makes of you a song
a beauty in full bloom
is for all the world to see
my enchanted blooming tree
shoot towards the sunlight
and never feel diminished in this world
grow ever gentle now for me
my cherry blossom tree
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
This next poem came very fast, just like the first....not any editing going on, really
"I'm named the Fool"
Sought the diamond in the rough
sought the pearl in the sea
sought the treasure at the end of the rainbow for me
but I was left holding dust
and staring at the sky
why am I always watching the clouds roll by?
Look at me
I am Fool, named me
I am Fool, blamed me
I am Fool, take me
Look at me
Such a fool I am to see
Searching for something I don't need
Sought the Holy Grail
sought Atlantis in the deep
sought the key to a Secret Garden I could keep
but I was wandering far
and staring at my end
why did I search so long with all the time I spent?
Look at me
I am Fool, named me
I am Fool, blame me
I the Fool, you'll see
Look at me
Such a fool I came to be
Searching for nothing I could ever really need
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The following poem is me typing very fast and letting the thoughts fall as soon as I think them
It's the type of writing I rarely share, because I usually try to post something with a "form" or "pattern" or something that makes sense....however, when letting emotions go, sometimes the best way is to let them fall as they will
"Windows"
brighter, sight of light on top
of the world like windows
searching you, your eyes were blue
and i am falling through windows
and someone better catch me
better catch me as i plummet
over the edge to fall away, the windows
i am windows
into a soul no one looks to see
brighter like the sunbeams on top
of the world is sky
and it's blue like your eyes and like
windows
i am holding poems in my hands
and they tell a tale of foreign lands
i am giving you my windows
my seeking never got me far
i fell and fall and falling far
someone catch me, better catch me
there i go down
through your windows
like you're beauty in the sky
i am falling through this sky
and it's windows
all around me
..........in truth the last poem could be edited into a really great poem - but maybe some other day, or maybe I like it unedited - I'll decide later
