Glass Coffin

Fairest of all, you had named me
took a portion of my soul and wove a bed for me
told me to be beautiful
told me to be serene
I saved it all for you, but what of me?

Poisonous and frightful, you came for me
took a knife to my heart and made a grave for me
told me to be beautiful
told me I looked serene
I was the fairest once, but what of me?

A coffin of glass, you had made for me
placed the panes of glass upon the ground just for me
told me to be beautiful
behind the glass I'd be serene
I would lay frozen in my beauty, all of me

Poisoning Walls Defeat Ice

"Walls of Ice"

Icicles have walled up my heart
Haven't heard your voice in a long while
Once I would have missed the sound
Perhaps my ears have iced over, too
Echoes linger of you in every part
Yearning for you stopped after a while
Once I would have felt so bound
Until I broke free and let go of you
Finally, I walked away but the coldness spread
All of my insides are frozen over
Like I made walls of ice to keep out the sun
Like I made walls of ice to keep out the love
Once I would have fought the apathy
Not now, oh no, I let it wash over me
You don't get to burn me with your love
Or erase my need with all your wants
Until I broke free, I never knew how bound I was
Rescued by reason and my walls have grown
Frozen high, icy towers in my soul
All of my insides are iced over
Couldn't let you burn me anymore
Everything ...is going numb

"Poisoning Defeat"

My too wild heart, my ribs have caged
My soul so long in want has aged
My lifeless eyes are shunned by you
No longer will my body do
You want a viper
You want a thief
You want a devil who offers relief
You want a demon
You want a piece
Of the pie with poison release
My too wild heart, my ribs have caged
My heart so long a war has waged
My parched lips can't utter what you need
From you I beg a word, I plead
But you want a viper
You want a thief
Your mistress offers your relief
She'll be your devil
Her tongue so sweet
Yet her poisoning is your defeat

Silenced Deep Down

"Deep Down"

One of these days
I’m going to explode
I don’t want to be here
When I battle against them
All of their chains upon me
All of their walls around me
They want to shun me now
Stuff me into a hole deep down
All of the illusionists there
They don’t happen to care
Where they spin their tales
Pervasive; hearts have failed
One of these days
I’m going to erupt
I don’t want to be here
When I wage war against them
All of their ropes upon me
And their fortress around me
They want to shut me out
Stuff me into a hole deep down
Saying I am an ailment in their side
Like a poison dart I’m opening wide
All of their false and wrong insides
Tell me why must we all hide?
Let it all out – I’m erupting
Time to call out this farce
Here I go now – exploding
Level them out; it’s sparse
Nothing left now that’s false
Bury ‘em down…
Or they will stuff me in hole deep down

“Silenced Songbird”

Am I diseased or crazy?
Perhaps I’m mad and touched
They never want to hear me
Tell me stand there and hush
They want to marvel at my beauty
But I mustn’t make a sound
When did it happen that the songbird
Cannot sing aloud?
Struck with envy
Struck with greed
They are yanking feathers off of me
And they want me – never freed
To be silent
Am I diseased or crazy?
Perhaps I’m a fool for all of them
They never want to hear me
They want me beautifully broken
I should like to sing so loud their ears bleed
They are sick with envy corrupted by greed
Plucking my feathers one by one
I am through with silence
I am done

Storm Cloud

I’m a storm cloud not a storm drain
Not a drizzle but a heavy rain; you better start seeing things for how they really are
You can talk sharp, hurricane, splinter on the words pouring out in pain
But the lessons really are inside of the insane, like an alabaster mystery without a proper name
They are mask wearing, fast sharing, manipulative snakes, like devils in the desert they are feeding you their taste
In acrid ceremonies living on the inside of your skull, contemplate the betterment and live for something more
She has a forked tongue, single eye, one that wanders, one that lies, listen to the poison dripping from her voice
It’s a velvet kind of sound and leaves you with one choice
Take the heat, take the sand, take what you deserve, you know you can, and says you don’t deserve a forest, just a fake hallucinated oasis
Darling, I’m a storm cloud not a storm drain
I do not drizzle when I rain, and you must be certain I know what they really are
Single serpents in the ground feeding liars until they starve, insane, ponder on the pain
Leave your lessons at the door and make yourself a fake history without a proper name
They are mask wearing, fast sharing, manipulative snakes, like devils in the desert with only one thing to taste
Acrid ceremonies featuring the innocent, contemplate the betterment and hurry shut your door
Foolish one, closed your eyes, seal the whispers of your demise, they will slowly poison and leave you with no choice
In velvet tongues they have one voice
Coated in heat, and in sand, what you deserve you understand, and so you know you deserve a forest but are getting just a fake oasis
I am a storm cloud, not a storm drain; I am nearly like a hurricane
I don’t play around with words and lies
I do not lead you to demise
But they do

Salt Water and Hope

Her spine outlines her frame
in stark contrast to the food on her plate
She nibbles at the food as if it will
poison her
My stomach aches in hunger
in response to the food on her plate
I salivate wishing I could taste it
for her
Her gaunt frame tells me she
doesn't trust enough to eat
My aching body confirms
the reason I need meat
but I have salt water and hope
to satisfy my hunger
and she has a wasted feast
not getting younger
I would take that entire plate
and savor every bite
Yet to her, she can pick in
disdain; it's not right
When she leaves the table
and the bounty before her is wasted
I fall to the floor
If I were even able
I'd have eaten what she never tasted
to fill my poor
body more than salt water and hope

Rock Bottom Dawn and Death Shoulders

"Little Deaths"

I don't know why we struggle as we do with broken hearts
Or why we carry the weight of past pains on our backs
but I know why we leave behind pieces and parts
and why there are deep stains in our tracks
For within each ache and hurt is a death of our soul
and we lose something we never gain back
with each little death there is left a small hole
a memory showing us what we now lack

7/24/12

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Bony Shoulders"

Her pale skin is not like alabaster, but more like plaster
or sun bleached earth
it seems quite pasty and flaky and speaks of death
Her bony shoulders and frail frame beguile
for she's an evil Dame
Her spirit is not one, but two, and each hold arrows
and each subdue
She walks along and drags a chain
the chain is made of bones unnamed, and from her wrists
she has the lives of many fallen to her lies
but as she goes, her pieces fall
and leave a trail of death
and she alone knows each by name
they no longer have life for breath
Her eyes are cold, her heart is green, her essence only that of mean
and when you see her
look away
for she will come back again for you someday

7/23/12

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Rock Bottom"

wrap the chain around my ankle
and wrap the rope about my wrist
tape my eyes closed forever
and rip my soul out with your fist
bury me beneath the lost dreams of my illusions
drown me in the broken moments of confusions
and end me and my all
and watch me as I fall
into rock bottom

sew my lips together with twine
and cement my feet to fall into the sea
change my name and what I am
and erase the traces of what was me
bury me beneath the lost dreams of my illusions
drown me in the broken moments of confusions
take me, take it all
and erase me as I fall
back into rock bottom

it's so stark and empty
and full of nothing new
a silence oh, so deadly
without a hopeful view
I will not break free from these chains
nor erase the past of pains
I cannot stand up
if you end me
with rock bottom

"Blame the Dawn"

I crawled over the ground, glass strewn around
while the sky
was breaking down
there was a sea inside of me
and a pitiful aching
and there was the dawn that came and took the night away
and you sailed away
and left me waiting
as I bled I turned to hating
like the poison ate at me
There was no hope but broken shards
and breaking hearts
and the morning sun
and I hated that my wishing stars had fled and run
You sailed away on a trip towards the distant light
and I alone with bleeding knees
learned my plight
I crawled away that fateful day and learned to hate
and let that part of me go, away the poison ate, and so
I have known something of the loss of hope
My wishing stars are now all gone
I blame the dawn
I blame the dawn

She's the Devil

She's a viper in the nest
a poison for your mouth
a sealed lipped kiss
and a ticket way down south
Her bosom is a mirage
sent to lead you to your doom
and inside her coffin says
"Here lies your tomb"
She's a master of disguise
and her words are shaped like stones
bruised upon your body
and building up her thrones
Set atop her high chair
she shall watch you fall asleep
into a deathly nightmare
where her madness you will reap
She's a nasty little devil
and a demon plays her song
when she wakes up each morning
the evils follow her along
Her echo chases for you
and chokes your withering ears
left scarred from her whippings
you have born the marks for years
She's a bottomless well to fall through
She's an electric coated fence
She's a potion you can die from
Body aching, bones so tense
as you cough up your heart
and it spills out on the floor
she'll pick it up and eat it
always demanding more
So, you better run for cover
Lock your windows and seal the walls
Never open up for her
and don't you heed her calls
She's a wicked little secret
you never knew was true
now she is coming here for victims
She's coming here for you

Shot the Kaleidscope for Happy?

"Shot"

bullet in the dark
i consult your intentions
poke at you with a metaphorical fork
you seem to be colored in something like crimson
perhaps it's poison
you seem to have left a trail
you leave behind a stain
and in my chest I feel pain
what are you?

9/16/11

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"You Sound Like Happy"

if all i can remember is your laugh
that is all i need
that is all i will hear haunt my dreams
if all i can hold to is your happiness
i will feel joy for you
i will feel better knowing the truth
if only laughter were enough to stop the earth
i would claim a moment or two
to carve into my eardrums the sweetest sound
it's the sound of you

9/16/11

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Kaleidoscope"

They broke me long ago
this you didn't know, this you didn't know
Then you came and told me to stand
told me the remnants of my being were mine to keep
so I remade myself in fragments of glass
and you made me feel beautiful
and useful
and different to the eyes
you made of me a marvel
If you only realized
Prismatic is my heart now, love
contained in changing lights

Unforgiven Pollution Killed You

"The Pollution"

Acrid and unforgiving
it's choking
it's ending
it's spilling over the edges
gone beyond ledges
and leaped over hedges
and crept through these walls
and died

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Killed You"

I poisoned you
slowly
I opened you
with razors and ice
I wrapped you in webs and fed you to spiders
and when you screamed
I closed my eyes
I shattered you
quickly
like a vase on the table
I looked at a shard
contemplating the past and let it fall
I let it fall hard

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Unforgiven"

I'm like the erupting volcanoes of Iceland
I blow, the ash settles and no planes can fly
I am like the flood waters that threaten
I wash away hopes and watch as they die
I am like the earthquakes that shake you
I often find buildings scattered and fallen
I'm like the tsunami that took away their world
I may never be loved nor be forgiven

Razor Lips

"Razor"

oh, little silver, little satin, little glee
like a shining little miniature thing
you are keen, fine edged and swift
and i know you become the poison in this fist
i see the smear where it leads it back
like a map, like a map
carved out your initials on the inside of your soul
and try to think of what makes you whole
it's erasing the need, the want, the hole
the echo left inside your empty soul
like a map, like a map
i swear i won't take it back
it's the edge of the poison in my fist
surely honed, keen edged and swift
like a shining little miniature thing
oh, little silver, little satin, little glee

4/25/11

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Lips"

soft
at the edge, like clouds
sweet like plums
and pink
gentle
they move so softly now
softer than thumbs
i think
gentle
and when they touch yours it's like
the world comes to life
like crashing of the waves
and the beginning of time
like the bang they say started it all
and made mountains rise and fall
over it all
it was earth shaking and relentless
in pursuit of just one thing
to return
soft
and whispering

We Eat Bitter Things When in Pain

"Toadstool Flame"

acrid, wasted, wanton, lame
toadstool in the bitter flame
took the ashes towards the trees
left them to become the breeze
ancient, wooded, scarce explored
forgotten in the Yuletide lore
ate a potion to kill the pain
and die alone beneath the rain
bitter, vile and horrible to taste
toadstool fed to a fool in haste
burnt inside and all the way through
laying down by that sacred yew
alone, forgotten, pitiful pile of shame
burnt from within by the toadstool flame

Angry and Sick the Caster Casts a Net My Way

"Sick Minded"

i am sick with anger
like vomit
like bile
this taste upon my tongue becomes
my poison
i have dealt you pain here
to cease your voice
and while
you shrivel inward; the sight becomes
my absolution

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I get so tired of the lack of care, as if I don't exist, don't matter, I am unimportant, useless, forgotten...
Am I a reason to walk on by?
I'm trying to put lanterns up to light your way and you shred them angry, and raged, and I wonder why, oh why in the world do I put myself through this?
Is it ok to simply walk by me and pretend I am nothing more than the wall of this building? Is it ok to look right through me as if I am a specter, a figment of your imagination, an illusion of someone you don't give a damn about?
Am I really so unimportant?
Is my voice like a nail piercing your ears? Are my hands like knives seeking your skin? Are my eyes like caverns leading you down?
Do you envision me captive inside of my shell or out on the mountains speaking out nonsense? For surely my existence means nothing to you and you'd rather believe no importance.
I cannot stand sitting here knowing that you never cared and that I've been the fool all along.
I cannot sit smiling pretty and pretending I'm happy when I'm angry because I'm not only wrong, but I have been a fool all this time presuming I meant more to you then a speck lost in the carpet of your floor.
I have smiled my last smile for you, laughed my last laugh with you, and given my last damn for you.
When you wonder, if you ever wonder where I'm at, I hope you get lost seeking me out.
I was never good enough for your company.
Nor do I now wish to be.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"Caster"

Oh, caster cast your last net my way
Reel me in like I am lost at sea
and steal a kiss from my lips
breathe the breath of life in me
Caster in your boat made of hope
carry me through this pain I bear
and rescue me from the troublesome
wrap me in love like a coat I'll wear
Oh, caster cast your last net my way
I might be all you wished to capture
And as the sun sets upon these waves
Steal a kiss from my lips to enrapture
Caster in your boat made of hope
My savior sailing these seas
Give me life back and take me ashore
Answerer of my pleas
