"Toadstool Flame"
acrid, wasted, wanton, lame
toadstool in the bitter flame
took the ashes towards the trees
left them to become the breeze
ancient, wooded, scarce explored
forgotten in the Yuletide lore
ate a potion to kill the pain
and die alone beneath the rain
bitter, vile and horrible to taste
toadstool fed to a fool in haste
burnt inside and all the way through
laying down by that sacred yew
alone, forgotten, pitiful pile of shame
burnt from within by the toadstool flame

Holding Onto You at the End of the Rope
"End of the Rope"
don't remind me of the sun anymore
nor how it outshines the moon
and never speak to me of trees
hugging them to make the forest
smile at you
do not stand atop your toadstool
and preach to me
while the unicorn steals my home
and don't think I'll be waiting
on the end of the rope
because when the sun came up
my rope broke
don't remind me of the light anymore
or how it makes me a shadow here
and never speak to me of the seas
I'm not standing on the shore
to smile with you
do not stand atop that bloody toadstool
and tell me I am wrong
as my world is crumbling down to me
and I don't think you know the hurt
or the end of the rope
because just now....
it broke

"Bring You Closer"
Little boat made of paper and pins
sinking
I am trying to reach you
before you melt into the water
I have one fragile string
if I pull too hard will break
and so I sit and pray for a little wave
to bring you closer
Little boat made of paper and dreams
drifting
I am hoping to bring you here
before you sink into the water
With my one fragile string
I hold so gently to you now
God, won't you bring the boat back here?
I need God to bring you closer

"Holding Onto..."
they took everything
and I'm sitting here
holding onto crumpled newspaper clippings
clutching this soggy mess
sidetracked and weather worn
and faithless in a nutshell
grasping raindrops like they are going to fix me
and end all my stress
but the puddles grow
and I'm weary and cold
and the rivelts of ink wash away from me here
trying to fix what's left
of what I was

Unspoken Past Anger Here
"Scorch the Past"
after the hurricane
the aftermath
the selfish pain
the ending tides of tidal waves and the
rush of voices screamed
the fires all had ceased with flame
the leftovers
discarded shame
and smoke had filled the rooms
where all the hopes had bled
but now I'm going to
kindle flames
and start the fires to burn
like wildfire and brimstone
and scorch the past
5/26/10
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Anger Represented Here"
what is the point anymore
when you don't pay attention here
and that toadstool you sit upon
is rotting out
and the air around your head
is blue and green and grey
and every motion of your mouth
just sickens me?
there isn't a point at all now
and no need to mention anything
for the remainder of your days
is spent while high
and that rotting toadstool is your dream
and the haven of your selfish stupidity
while every other living thing
just walks away
5/17/10
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Unspoken Unanswered"
discarded photos in a photo book
and a nasty taste in my mouth
and somehow words still unspoken
are waiting to come out
I wanted to...but the words failed
discarded dreams in a dream journal
and a tear or two never shed
and so many questions unanswered
turn circles inside of my bed
I wanted to speak...but cannot

Toadstool
like acid was the lullaby
i hummed to the stars
and cursed them if they shot by
and veiled my heart with scars
your foolish little stories
have turned my thoughts to ash
and that silly little toadstool
made me angered; made me rash
i cursed the seven sisters
and screamed towards Orion's Belt
you've made fools of all the wishers
and made pain of all i've felt
