Told that the devil has you in his grasp
That a demon holds you near
Told that a waiting storm to judge you soon
Is what you ought to fear
Told to be better
Told to be right
Told to straighten up
Let go of your pride
Told to be silent
Told to be still
Told to tone it down
You say you never will
Battle on with a bright edged sword
Like a butterfly in June
Don't let them cut your wings
Don't let them steal your right
Shine like the sun, like the moon
Battle on with a bright edged sword
All the colors running free
Don't let them paint you grey
Don't let them shut you down
You were meant to be happy
Oh, I bet they told you, told you, told you
Told that the devil has you in his grasp
That a demon holds you near
Told that a waiting storm to judge you soon
Is what you ought to fear
Told to be better
Told to be right
Told to straighten up
Let go of your pride
Told to be silent
Told to be still
Told to tone it down
You say you never will
I've been there out on the edge
I've been laced with rage
I've been afraid, sorrowing and faint
And I've turned another page
Battle on with a bright edged sword
Like a butterfly in June
Don't let them cut your wings
Don't let them steal your right
Shine like the sun, like the moon
Battle on with a bright edged sword
All the colors running free
Don't let them paint you grey
Don't let them shut you down
You were meant to be happy

Singing The Wrong Moon Song
Sitting here alone on the floor beside my bed
My thoughts are claiming victims in my head
All about the stillness inside this room
Is illuminated by the moon
I said to my lover I will be returning soon
I lied again beneath the winter moon
I said to my lover I will be singing our tune
But I sang a different song under the moon
It goes like: “I’m a sightless sorter
With a profound disorder
Everything without order
I am holding at the border
All the things like a hoarder
Buried deep in the mortar”
Sitting here by my bedside table on the floor
I have oft been called words that rhyme with door
All about the stillness inside of this little room
Is illuminating all the lies under my moon
I promised my lover I would be returning soon
I deceived again underneath the winter moon
I said to my lover I will always sing our tune
But I sang a different song under the moon
It sounds like: “I’m a sightless sorter
With a profound disorder
Everything without order
I am holding at the border
All the things like a hoarder
Buried deep in the mortar
All my victims piled up high
Like a macabre wall to the sky
I just like leaving them to die
Let ‘em all hang out to dry
They ask why; I don’t know why
I just like to hear them cry”
My room is lonely and it’s silent
Some say I should just repent
If I did I’d feel I’m sorry
But, I know that I’m not sorry
I promised my lover I would be returning soon
I deceived again underneath the winter moon
I said to my lover I will always sing our tune
But I sang a different song under the moon
It sounds like: “I’m a sightless sorter
With a profound disorder
Everything without order
I am holding at the border
All the things like a hoarder
Buried deep in the mortar
All my victims piled up high
Like a macabre wall to the sky
I just like leaving them to die
Let ‘em all hang out to dry
They ask why; I don’t know why
I just like to hear them cry”
Sitting by the window on this floor
The moon is calling me a whore
I may not know what I did it for
I just know I’ve done this before
Promising lovers I’d come home soon
Leave them alone beneath their moon
I promise them I’ll sing their tune
Just so I can sing beneath another moon
Singing songs like “I’m a sightless sorter
With a profound disorder
Everything without order
I am holding at the border
All the things like a hoarder
Buried deep in the mortar
All my victims piled up high
Like a macabre wall to the sky
I just like leaving them to die
Let ‘em all hang out to dry
They ask why; I don’t know why
I just like to hear them cry
I’m a sightless sorter
With a profound disorder
I like walls made of torture
I hold them at the border
Pile them high like a hoarder
Buried deep in the mortar
All my victims way up high
Like a macabre wall to the sky
I sit to watch them die
Beneath a moonlit sky
I can’t tell you why
I just like to hear them cry”

Purple Spoon
Collect your feathers and just fly from here
I can't take your songs anymore
I was blinded but now I see clear
I know what you did this for
I won't eat from your purple spoon anymore
Or listen to your silver tongue
I am done
I am done
Collect your letters, do not leave them here
I won't see that mess anymore
I won't worry or be full of fear
I won't settle out this score
I won't eat from your purple spoon anymore
Or listen to your silver tongue
Oh, I am done
Yes, I am done
You're a silver tongued vulture in the night
Tearing my heart out with each new bite
And you feed me off your royal spoon
Beneath a subtle shadowed moon
I will get better, once you're gone from here
I won't be poisoned anymore
I will be able to see things clear
Knowing what I am living for
I won't eat from your purple spoon anymore
Or listen to your silver tongue
I am done
Yes, I am doneI am done

My Spoon
Diddle for a diddle, I said 'hey!'
A fiddle for the damned cat to play
Where did the moon go?
The cow wants to know
The dog is still laughing
and he probably knows
where that dish ran away with my spoon
Diddle for a diddle, I don't want to play
Tell the damned cat to just run away
I cannot even see the moon
nor listen to the cow moo
The dog is now barking
for he probably can tell
the dish is going to get hell
Where is my spoon?
Where is my spoon?
Hey, no diddle for a diddle
I'll break the cat's fiddle
The cow can go find her moon
The little dog is dead and the
dish will be soon
for she ran away with my spoon

Words, Trees, Wings and Wine
My words are the anchor in me
like the way roots work for a tree
this is my
reason why
I breathe
2/9/13
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
don't coat my silver heart in brine
and waste
don't still my beating wings
and change my fate
my eyes are glued to the moon
my hands are seeking you
just bathe my fragile heart in wine
and haste
E.A.
1/26/13
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Take me, my pale fellow
and lead me into the wood
my hands are seeking trees
my heart so misunderstood
Yet you're the one
who always showed me how
to be OK with being me
and what I've become now
Take me, my pale fellow
and sit with me in silence
there are no words within the trees
that actually make sense
2/11/13
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Your chords you tried to tie me with
To bind me to my own wit
and leave me here in the shade
Your words you tried to lie and with
your tongue you wished it
but I will not now be played
So settle now the score my friend
and let us not sit here and pretend
there is no need for tying us in knots
So hear me now my not subtle friend
I need this here right now to end
I shall not be double crossed
Not again

Strange Halloween Salt
"Strange Wayfarer of Autumn"
Shave off your odd bits and break down your walls
but I can't carry the weight of your wounds anymore
and out on the foggy road strewn in autumn leaves
I'll let all the heavy burdens fall off of me
and I will walk away into the sunset knowing that
winter is coming and I am too weak
I can't hold you back
I will fasten wings for you
but they might look like those of a bat
and if someone should think you a demon
just know, I never wanted that
but I am a wayfarer and I am strange
and the woods were always my home
and after I broke down all your barriers
I still felt so very alone
I can't carry the weight of your wounds anymore
and this road is getting steep
I'll let the burdens all fall off of me
and climb this mountain peak
Winter is coming after these reds all fade
and I'm to weak and still too afraid
but I will fasten you wings I'll make
and I hope you won't scare anybody away
but I must walk on my way now
for the fog has settled on me
and this Autumn road is strange like me
but someday you'll fly back and lift me away....
...for out of your wounds I fastened those wings

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Here Comes Halloween"
Black roses and red leaves
and orange carved faces
with cobwebbed spider sleeves
and wrought iron fences
Darkness and harvest moons
with bats lining windows
Enchanting haunted tunes
and lanterns in rows
Sheets making ghosts
and painted ghoulish faces
and scarecrows on posts
and creepy haunting places
There goes a witch on by
Here comes a goblin in green
Did you hear a banshee cry?
Here comes Halloween

"Drink before the Salt"
I can't lead you to the water
and I can't make you drink
but I can feed you salt
and take you to the brink
and then when you are craving
something to quench your thirst
I will bring the rain down
so you won't think you're cursed
and drink, drink, drink, drink up darling
the water's falling
and it's time to be healed
so drink, drink, drink, drink darling
or I will bury your bones in salted earth

Pennies and Moons
Am I the waveless sea?
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always, always been me
I spent my pennies in a well
and I would count the moons as well
and hope for a blue moon
I'd wish on times and fallen lashes and hope and pray
but faith passes
and I am hopeless
Am I the waveless sea?
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always been me, always me
I found you wounded and alone
I was alone for a long time, too
but here I'd found you
I hoped for happiness and to find a way and I realized today
my faith passes
and I am hopeless
Am I the waveless sea?
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always been me
I am wishing on moons
and planting pennies inside water
hoping to grow some hope
but I am hopeless
I am like a waveless sea
A starless night, it's always me
A bird without any wings
Always, always, always me
I have wished upon blue moons
and found, I found you
But pennies will not save me now
I am hopeless
A starless night, oh yes, that's me
A wounded bird without wings
this has always, always been me

Amazed I Wait at Home at Night
"Waiting Home"
Slow down darling, you are too young to be so scared
Why are you crying? there is love everywhere
I am waiting here, like a guardian today
and when you come home I will remain this way
oh, why are you fearful? the world is new to you
come now, be cheerful, there is a place still for you
I will find some way some how some better day
don't be worried and don't be so afraid
I am working this all out and by the time you get home
I will have it figured out and it'll all be known
Isn't life grand if you can just give it a chance?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Color Us Night"
My color is blue and your color is grey
Color the night like it might always stay
Give us the stars and paint the way in golden lights
Capture the moon and color it new
I want to behold forever only ever you
Give me the stars and paint up my life with golden light
I quite like watching the stars
I quite like seeing you smile
yet my color is blue and remains so blue
and you, you, you, you are grey
Color me yellow and color you night
Color us to match the world so alive
Give us the stars and paint the way for us in golden lights
Capture the moon and name it for truth
I want it to be named after only you
Give me the stars and paint up my life with golden light
I am counting the stars
Just to see you smile
But my color is blue, is blue, blue like day
and you, you, you, you, you're still grey
like the stormy day, ah, the day
Color us night, darkness and night
Color us to blend in to the twilight
Give us the stars and parade on our hearts those golden lights
Give us the moon and it is named for you
Let it proclaim only the truth, the truth
Give me the stars and paint my life right with golden light
I will name the stars
I will see you smile
And I will be like the night with you, with you
and you, you, you, you, you will be the moon
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Amazed"
I see the new day, I see the new dawn
I see the new way I will write a new song
I will be the new one, the better, the happy
I will be the one to say I am finally free
I will write you a story and a message to share my thanks
and I will bless you and help you all along your way
I am indebted by you and by all that you contain
You are amazing
Quite frankly, no one compares and ever will
You just are that extraordinary
How can anyone harm you?
I do not know, all I know is you have the magic
and I will write for you and I will write for you
I see the new day, I see the new dawn
I see the new way I will write a new song
Ahead of me a pathway
and it leads to new days
and I thank you the whole way, I thank you the whole way
You amaze me
Slow down darling, you are too young to be so scared

The Red Bird Costume
I have tied red ribbons around these wrists of mine
and I have draped my body in red feathers fine
I have worn a mask made of paper sail boat remnants
from a sunken ship of hope hanging on in fragments
I have walked waterlogged and soggy after dark
with broken shoes through a forgotten foggy park
where my little feathers fell beneath an old swing
like a scarlet songbird had stopped there to sing
I have gazed at the moon and felt melancholy woe
where glinting off the barren ground atop the snow
lay the echoes of my costume in a shredded crimson pile
of feathers and ribbons and a mask of crumpled style
I have dripped mascara into a bright red sash
and thrown away paper wings right into the trash
I have screamed at the sequins and glitter on the ground
with an alarming, sad, and most dreadful sound
I have left a trail of red all along that cheerful place
like a morbid bird died there wearing a paper face
I have torn off the ribbons once tied in bows on my wrists
and smashed apart a paper mask with my angry fists
where not a trace of once loved boats remained in the mess
to tell the tale of hope and what the mask could express
I have shredded the feathers like a panther shreds its prey
and I have left a glitter trail in crimson all along the way
I have walked across the park to a river with frozen toes
dragging one last remnant of the symbol of my woes
I have tossed the scarlet dress into the river bitter and cold
and stood with shivering bones like one now deathly old
and I have turned from the water and walked in freezing skin
towards a silver garbage can to see what might lie within
I have found a ruined jacket with patches and with holes
that reminded me of myself and all my hopeless roles
I have walked away long after dark wearing just a coat
grasping a crumpled piece of paper that had once been a boat
leaving behind a park that seemed a grave for red songbirds
telling a story of a broken heart without any words

Floor
I was branded, marked and scarred
I was handed hell inside a jar
My innocence had fled beneath a moon
My blurry eyes sought you in the gloom
And you changed my whole outlook
And you changed everything I partook of
You became the reason I am healing
and then you dropped me from the ceiling to the floor
I was broken, bruised and left alone
I made of a broken house my home
My errors were plain for you to see them
But you soon helped me attain freedom
You changed my entire perception of life
You changed my whole reason to try
You became the reason I reach to the top
and it was all OK until you let me drop to the floor
But you came and you lifted me back up
I was bitter, hurt and sore, but you helped me out
I learned from you what to forgive meant
and my love became heaven sent
I am jaded, fabricated and a fool
And for you I've broken every rule
You open up these tired eyes and I see hope
You broaden my horizon with a better sense of scope
And you change the world I can see
You change it all and you create a better me
And you lift me up and you take me so high
This time you let me know you won't let me die on the floor
No, not any more

The Moon is Blown, Mary Poppins
"Blown"
Undo me now
I don't know how
you effect me like you do
It's not contained
my voice isn't restrained
take a bow
for what you claimed
I don't call the shots
but you know the spots
to learn
How can you be so wonderful?
I am incapable
of comprehension
My mind is blown

power keg, loaded rocket in the back seat
send this ship to the moon
take all the contents of Mary Poppins' bag
and we'll set the moon on fire
loaded gun, and don't you turn away
take this higher than before
Whisper to the wind, 'we will catch you again'
and set the world on fire
I'll claim the seven seas if you stand by me
I'll fly straight into the stars
load the cannon, sir, and blow this place high
I am writing your name in the sky
Let's make it all go up in flames, scorch this place
and set fire to the room
Send me on my way, follow, follow say,
'here we are
this is better than the moon'
Blast away, rocket in the world I say
'take me higher than this place'
and set fire
in space

Undo me now
I don't know how
you effect me like you do
It's not contained
my voice isn't restrained
take a bow
for what you claimed
I don't call the shots
but you know the spots
to learn
How can you be so wonderful?
I am incapable
of comprehension
My mind is blown

Blooming Dawn
The night spiralled cold and
forgotten was the hope and
winter was bitter to our souls
But now in warmth I shall reach
for a new sun
But tell me where does it shine?
For you I was wanting the truth
I was needing the hope
for a blooming dawn
I was seeking the light at the end
of this tunnel but I
could not see but a shadow
In search of a brigter day
I will make a way
I'll pull you along and keep you here
I'll brave all the elements
I will not recompense the light
For I am trying
For you I was wanting the truth
I was needing the hope
for a blooming dawn
I was seeking the north star
to find where I will start a new
life where the flowers bloom
But darkness still holds me
and winter still bars me
and death is a mask on my face
Spring was a falsehood and who
shall tell me otherwise?
Can you reach for hope in another sphere
in alien skies?
For you I was wanting the truth
I was needing the hope
for a blooming dawn
I was charting our stars
I was battling the edge of
sanity
it was me
The night spiralled dark and cold
and here I am growing old
and you are doing what you're told
but speak in only hushed tones
don't scare the light
don't scare the light
it's coming........
coming......
coming like the dawning of the end of the days
coming like the ending of the errors of our ways
coming like the waves that moved only for the moon
coming, coming, coming, coming......soon

Birds Are Singing Your Name
Inside the sun, beneath the clouds
I want to scream your name out loud
Tell all the birds of your sweet face
And how you fell from outer space
How you have graced us with your essence
And the world had then received a present
I'll tell them all to sing of your name
And how nothing will be the same
If you should leave they'll sing a mourning song
And they'll say that surely something went wrong
For the sunlight contained your smile
And all the magic bottle up a while
Burst forth in Spring to wake the world and set it right
And without you there would be no pearly moonlight
You made the world a place of majesty
When you graced us with your beauty
I'll have the birds sing forever of you
Singing you're the most beautiful they knew
I want to scream your name out loud
Tell all the birds of your sweet face

Say One Word: Infinite
"Say"
it's hard to convey to you what you mean to me
harder still to find the words for these emotions
if I could tell you what you mean to me
would it change a thing?
would it mean a thing?
perhaps the sky will fall on me if I speak
perhaps the moon will forever hide
perhaps nothing at all will change anything
but I think I might try
to say
all these things I have no words to use
it's hard to tell you how infinite you are to me
harder still to paint for you the future I am holding to
but would you even hear me out and believe me?
can I change anything?
will my words mean a thing?
perhaps the world will lose humanity it I speak
perhaps the sun will forever dim her light
perhaps nothing at all will change anything
but I think I have to try
to say
something
Something profound will never leave my lips
Something brave, and strong, and sure won't ring a sound
It will be quiet, tentative and so full of fear
it's the entirety of the infinite I try to convey
and I know I have no words to use to get my point across
but if I don't
such a loss
I think I have to try
to say
everything
having no words to use
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"One Word"
oh, one word, one word
just one word
so much meaning to one little word
I have one, just one word
to describe you
with one word
only one
just one word
it's only one
if they knew, if they knew
who you are
they would also have one word
just one word
and we'd all describe you
with just one word
if they knew, if they knew, if they knew
I have one
one little wish
That the world will one day see
just what you are and came to be
just one word
that they would need
I have one, one word
just one, one little word
if you knew only one word
you would know
this one word
is
infinite

My Weary Heart Battles the Elements Without You
I can climb so high, and get so far
but suddenly the mountain I was scaling falls
caving in, I am falling down, losing it
and you're not around
and it's harder now
I was reaching, reaching, reaching towards the sun
it's been so long
You'd been the moon, the bluest moon of all
but now I'm too old to call you back
Come rain, come snow, come fire, and come the winds
My weary heart is destroyed over and over again
I can climb so high, and get so far
but the mountain no longer remains and I fall
caving in, I am falling down, losing it
and where are you?
Where are you?
I was reaching, reaching, reaching towards a sunny day
it's been so hard on me
You'd been the moon, with the shooting stars
but I'm too old to wish anymore and it's too hard
Come rain, come snow, the fire and the wind comes too
My weary heart battles the elements without you
And no matter the height I reach alone
You are nowhere now; where are you now?
I can climb so high, and get so very far
and always the mountain I scale will fall
Caving in I lose myself, I lose it all
and who will catch me as I fall?
No, not you at all.........
I was reaching, reaching, reaching towards the sun
it's been too long
You'd been the moon, bluest of them all
but now I'm too old to hold you up
Come rain, come snow, come fire and wind too
My weary heart battles the elements without you
And no matter how I fight or the height I gain
You aren't here at all
No one to see me fall
Bitterest truth of all
I was reaching, reaching, reaching towards a sunny day
it's been so hard on me

Sea Spinners
"Out to Sea"
Every time you are close to the shoreline
I fear you'll float out to sea
What's gonna keep you here in the sand
and not swimming from me?
Every night that the moon is out above
I fear you'll walk the long walk away
and you'll know nothing of love
So I'll tie you here to me like an anchor I'll be
I won't let you float out to sea
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Spinners of Gold"
October is for daydreamers and spinners of gold
It's for riot makers and crayon painters
and women loving colors bold
It's for freethinkers and leapers and lovers
and people born beneath the moon
It's for magic and mayhem and wanderers
and merrymakers playing a tune
It's for dancers aplenty beneath harvest red
a moon bathed in symbols of old
October is for candle jumpers, revelers and lights
lit by the spinners of gold

Moon Bird
"Broken Winged Bird"
tragedy in white
walks alone at night
sings a song of sorrow
like a broken winged bird
tragedy in white
sings alone at night
like a lonely sparrow
a solitary broken bird
tragedy in white
little lonesome night
sings a song of sorrow
like a broken winged bird

"Capture the Moon"
capture the moon, my friend
the moon is leaving you
take a glance upwards
and steal your soul
capture the moon, my friend
she is drifting away from you
lift your eyes heavensward
and take back your soul
capture the moon, my friend
her light a beacon for you
take your face skywards
and reclaim your soul
capture the moon, capture her
take her and follow the night
for when the dawn comes she leaves again
and the world becomes too bright
capture the moon, capture the moon
take back your soul, reclaim it soon
she will leave er dawn comes
capture the moon, my friend
before the night ends again
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
moon bird, moon bird
fly away
fly oh fly oh fly away
moon bird, moon bird
the coming day
is dawning, dawning, dawning day
moon bird, moon bird
free to play
each night, starlight, fly away
moon bird, moon bird
the dawning day
fly oh fly oh fly away

Another Mad Poem
"Madness for the Peacemakers"
pacifist
oh marvelor of infinity
the great madness
of the barrier reef
and solitude on the moon
collector
of the charms we seal our
demise upon
and the silt in the bottom
of the endless pond
we shall drown the broken in
heartbeats
like the echoes in the senseless cave
dwelling of the imovable rage
like the wishers all gave pinecones
for their hearts
and bled out on the steps
of the cathederal walls
