Insane Flame House on the Shore

"Insane House"

picking at the scabs, pulling out my hair
scraping on the walls, but nobody's there
digging in the floors, slamming doors
running up and down the floors
racing to my bed against thoughts in my head
scattered on the floor, nothing more
falling all a part in dark macabre art
suddenly insanity is real
plucking at my eyes, pulling at my hair
scratching on the walls for a mural there
pull a part the floors, slamming doors
running up and down all those floors
racing to my bed against monsters in my head
screaming at the door, nothing more
fall all a part in a dark macabre art
suddenly insanity is reality
is taking me
down
down all the floors
through all the doors
where is the solace anymore?
I hear the roar
Monsters in my head are crying for my death
picking at the scabs, pulled out all my hair
scratched up all the walls without any care
tore a part the floors, locked all the doors
ran too many times up and down the floors
raced straight to my bed against monsters in my head
scarred inside my soul, nothing more
fall all a part in a dark macabre art
suddenly insanity is all of me
all that's left of me
now

"Stagnant or Calm?"

there are funny moments where i notice
you still me
my raucous spirit settles
the waves all cease
is this a type of death
or birth in me?
is it like stagnant water
or a calm sea?
you come around and stand there
you still me
and i wonder what it means

"Flame on the Shore"

She said I've been feeling like a flame
on the shore
Destined to be washed away
but meant for something more

I said fires shouldn't be near the sea
Fires shouldn't be where they're not meant to be

Here Comes Halloween

Black roses and red leaves
and orange carved faces
with cobwebbed spider sleeves
and wrought iron fences
Darkness and harvest moons
with bats lining windows
Enchanting haunted tunes
and lanterns in rows
Sheets making ghosts
and painted ghoulish faces
and scarecrows on posts
and creepy haunting places
There goes a witch on by
Here comes a goblin in green
Did you hear a banshee cry?
Here comes Halloween

Darts into the Fog

I give up
everything you inspire is dark
and like fire
that consumes my page
in rage
and ink
I give up
every word in my poetry
is heard
with apathy
and you never see
this side of me
bleeding out printed words
containing all these hurts
like I am throwing darts
into the fog

I give up
everything I feel is leftovers
I never heal
these emotions linger still
ever will
in ink
I give up
every syllable in my poetry
is capable
of empathy
but you never see
this side of me
bleeding out printed words
containing my curse
like I am throwing darts
into the fog

The Fall of Rome

Take my fragile bony hands and lead me into the dark
and with me dance across this floor
like it is Central Park
and when I awake from this dream tear out my heart
and with it stitch my insides up
like macabre art
I want to hear your lullaby whispered in my ear
before you close them off
whisper softly Dear
When I am buried in the earth behind your home
remember the dance we shared
the fall of Rome
I want you to carry my hollow soul underneath your tongue
where each time you say my name
or air escapes a lung
You will remember my bony hands in a darkened room
where we danced across the floor
before I met my doom

The Red Bird Costume

I have tied red ribbons around these wrists of mine
and I have draped my body in red feathers fine
I have worn a mask made of paper sail boat remnants
from a sunken ship of hope hanging on in fragments
I have walked waterlogged and soggy after dark
with broken shoes through a forgotten foggy park
where my little feathers fell beneath an old swing
like a scarlet songbird had stopped there to sing
I have gazed at the moon and felt melancholy woe
where glinting off the barren ground atop the snow
lay the echoes of my costume in a shredded crimson pile
of feathers and ribbons and a mask of crumpled style
I have dripped mascara into a bright red sash
and thrown away paper wings right into the trash
I have screamed at the sequins and glitter on the ground
with an alarming, sad, and most dreadful sound
I have left a trail of red all along that cheerful place
like a morbid bird died there wearing a paper face
I have torn off the ribbons once tied in bows on my wrists
and smashed apart a paper mask with my angry fists
where not a trace of once loved boats remained in the mess
to tell the tale of hope and what the mask could express
I have shredded the feathers like a panther shreds its prey
and I have left a glitter trail in crimson all along the way
I have walked across the park to a river with frozen toes
dragging one last remnant of the symbol of my woes
I have tossed the scarlet dress into the river bitter and cold
and stood with shivering bones like one now deathly old
and I have turned from the water and walked in freezing skin
towards a silver garbage can to see what might lie within
I have found a ruined jacket with patches and with holes
that reminded me of myself and all my hopeless roles
I have walked away long after dark wearing just a coat
grasping a crumpled piece of paper that had once been a boat
leaving behind a park that seemed a grave for red songbirds
telling a story of a broken heart without any words

Blooming Dawn

The night spiralled cold and
forgotten was the hope and
winter was bitter to our souls
But now in warmth I shall reach
for a new sun
But tell me where does it shine?

For you I was wanting the truth
I was needing the hope
for a blooming dawn
I was seeking the light at the end
of this tunnel but I
could not see but a shadow

In search of a brigter day
I will make a way
I'll pull you along and keep you here
I'll brave all the elements
I will not recompense the light
For I am trying

For you I was wanting the truth
I was needing the hope
for a blooming dawn
I was seeking the north star
to find where I will start a new
life where the flowers bloom

But darkness still holds me
and winter still bars me
and death is a mask on my face
Spring was a falsehood and who
shall tell me otherwise?
Can you reach for hope in another sphere
in alien skies?

For you I was wanting the truth
I was needing the hope
for a blooming dawn
I was charting our stars
I was battling the edge of
sanity
it was me

The night spiralled dark and cold
and here I am growing old
and you are doing what you're told
but speak in only hushed tones
don't scare the light
don't scare the light
it's coming........
coming......
coming like the dawning of the end of the days
coming like the ending of the errors of our ways
coming like the waves that moved only for the moon
coming, coming, coming, coming......soon

Dark Blue Light

"Blue Light Spring"

you were starlight, you were snowflakes
you were blossoms and blue eyes and earthquakes
you were blue lights drowning out the red that took my hope
you were a dancer and a dreamer and a newborn make-believer
and hope born upon the sun bursting into Spring
And every moment after was a magical journey
Dancing through the daylight like a dream
You drowned out almost everything
you were music, you were melodies
you were glitter and sparkles and daydreams
you were blue lights drowning out the red that took my hope
you were a dancer and a dreamer and a newborn make-believer
and somehow through it all you were like Spring

"It Was Dark"

And it was dark, so very dark
and clouded inside my eyes
There wasn't but a pinprick
and that light was sure to die
I was wrestling in the corners
for forgiveness that ran away
trying to grab a hold of something
so I could remember the way
The way to let go
the way to move on
the way to breathe
But I was faltering...
And it was dark inside the car
and lights were in my eyes
And you let me speak it all out
I had never even tried
I'd been battling the cobwebs
trying to run the other way
But you had me lay it all out
Not knowing what I'd say
And I finally let go
and I moved on
and I could actually breathe
I'm so very grateful
So very thankful
For that gift that you gave me
No matter what may happen
What life may bring
I am lighter and better and happier you see
For it was dark, so very dark
But you helped me come back...
...back to me.
